That over 269 firefighters and other emergency responders have died since 1979 from accidents involving emergency vehicles.

Between 20 and 25 percent of firefighter deaths are from these types of accidents.

These figures do not include the many emergency services personnel who are injured annually from emergency vehicle related accidents.
