A total of 34 ambulances from 12 service providers were sent to the
scene to treat and transport victims of the crash. The local ambulance
service which provides EMS for the City of Evansville, activated its
Disaster Alert Plan which placed the three area hospitals on alert and
summoned assistance from all available emergency medical technicians
from the six township volunteer departments in Vanderburgh County. The
EMTs were instructed to respond to an EMS staging area near the crash
site. A total of 83 EMS personnel responded to the incident.
