Fifteen firefighters were treated for minor injuries. Ten were for
smoke inhalation, three for eye irritation , one for burning embers in eyes,
and one for a head injury. Three non-firefighters were treated for minor
fire injuries, two for eye irritation , and one for smoke inhalation.
Some minor damage did occur to fire equipment and apparatus in the
area, but exact information on this damage was not readily available.
The total damage from the fire was estimated at approximately
$18,000,000. Thirty-one residences were totally destroyed. Eleven
vehicles were totally destroyed. Partial damage occurred to six homes,
primarily roof damage. Other damage occurred at 14 residences including
fence and vegetation damage. Damage also occurred to three utilities
including Pacific Gas and Electric, Pacific Telephone, and Monterey
Peninsula Cable TV, whose trailer and microwave power were destroyed.
